2023 Summer Reading Adventure
2023 Summer Reading Adventure
June 16 - August 18, 2023
At Cameron, we want to encourage all of our students to explore books and enjoy reading over the summer! Reading is a great way to exercise your brain and explore new worlds while you’re away from school–and you can earn some great prizes along the way!
Sign up for the Summer Reading Adventure at your local Fairfax County Public Library and log your reading minutes and activities all summer long. By completing the summer reading adventure, you are eligible for prizes through FCPL and an extra special celebration here at Cameron when we return to school in August! Just follow these simple steps:
- Starting on June 10th, register at fairfaxcounty.beanstack.org for the Summer Reading Adventure. You can register your whole family with programs for kids (birth - rising 6th graders), teens (rising 6th - 12th graders), and adults!
- On June 16th, start logging your books, reading minutes, and other fun summer reading activities you complete. You can log online at farifaxcounty.beanstack.org, with the Beanstack app, or with a paper log (available online and at your local library branch).
- Get your prizes at the library! Once you’ve met the reading goals for your age group, visit your local library branch to collect your prizes for finishing the adventure! Kids will receive a coupon book for free items all over town, including Rita’s Italian Ice, Wendy’s, Mount Vernon and Fairfax County Parks programs.
- Come to Cameron’s Summer Reading Celebration! When we return to school in August, show Mrs. Migs that you completed the summer reading adventure for an invitation to our party. We’ll have popsicles, play outside, and have a prize drawing for books, STEAM kits, and even a Kindle Fire tablet!
Ways to share your completed summer reading adventure with Mrs. Migs (@email):
- Easiest: Invite Mrs. Migs to be your Beanstack friend! Email your friend code to Mrs. Migs and she’ll be able to see when you earn your Beanstack completion badge. (For more info about Beanstack friends, check out the video at bit.ly/42G4JLo.)
- Easy: Take a screenshot of your Beanstack completion badge and email it to Mrs. Migs.
- Easy: Snap a photo of your paper log (front and back) and email it to Mrs. Migs.
- Harder to remember: Bring your paper reading log to Mrs. Migs when school starts in August.
