We love to read at Cameron!

Welcome to the Cameron Elementary School Library! We have approximately 12,000 resources to support literacy and learning for all of our Cameron Cheetahs. You can explore these resources online 24/7 through our library catalog, Destiny.

Library Resources

In addition to the many print resources available on the library shelves, students are encouraged to use our collection of digital resources. The Cameron Library provides ebooks and audiobooks through services like myON, MackinVIA, and Tumblebooks, and FCPS has a large collection of digital databases to meet students’ information needs. All of these can be accessed through Destiny. When students use these resources outside of school, they may be asked to login for access.

Weekly Library Visits

Every class has a scheduled 30-minute library visit each week that includes an information skills lesson and time for book check out. Lessons include topics like library organization, book selection, research skills, and the use of digital tools. The last 10 minutes of the weekly visit are reserved for browsing the shelves and checking out books.

Checkout Procedures

All students are encouraged to check out library books and take them home to share and read with their families. As our youngest students learn and practice responsibility, Pre-K and Kindergarten students will check out and bring home one book at a time. 1st - 6th grade students are encouraged to check out as many books as they plan to read each week and are responsible for taking care of their books until they are returned. All library books check out for 3 weeks at a time and can be renewed if necessary. Students do not have to wait until their “library day” to return books. They can return books any morning as they arrive at school.

Meet the Librarian

Mrs. Migliorini, or "Mrs. Migs," is new to the Cameron community this year. As part of a Coast Guard family, she has spent her career in elementary school libraries around the country. She is passionate about fostering joyful reading experiences for all students and providing instruction that guides them to be resourceful, responsible learners. When Mrs. Migs is not at school, she enjoys running, reading (of course), and spending time with her husband and 3 kids, and their bulldog, Watson. You can contact Mrs. Migs at (703) 329-2116 or at @email.
